Hiking and Culture (8 days / 7 nights)


DAY 01: ARRIVAL TO BEIRUT

Arrival to Beirut international airport, meet and assist. Transfer to the hotel for dinner and overnight.


DAY 02: BEIRUT - EHDEN - BSHARRE

Breakfast. Start in Beirut by visiting the reconstruction project "Solidere" and visit National Museum. Go to Ehden Nature Reserve where we drive for about 1 hour at a height of 1650m surrounded by cedar, pine and oak forests. Dinner and overnight in Bsharre.


DAY 03: BSHARRE - THE CEDAR - QADISHA VALLEY

Drive through the famous Cedar forests, the flag symbol of Lebanon. Located in northern Lebanon, at the foot of the mountain begins Mekmal our hike (approx. 12 km, with a vertical drop of 900m to 1300m) in the Wadi Qadisha. Since 1998, UNESCO Natural Heritage is the Sacred Valley, the name in German, especially the history of early Christianity of the utmost importance. In the course of the 6 century came here because of intra-Christian disputes arising from the Orontes valley in present-day Syria, the first Christians, in order to hide in the caves of the mountain. For centuries a place of meditation and prayer, of which up to now testify hermitages and monasteries. The people cultivate their terraced fields with the aid of draft animals and ropes, and it is easy to connect with these people. Dinner and overnight in Bsharre.


DAY 04: BSHARRE - BAALBECK - ZAHLE

Drive through the fertile Beqaa Valley to Baalbeck, a center in Roman times. Visit the Temple of Jupiter, Bacchus the beautifully decorated temple and the temple of Venus in the form of a pentagon. Then we come to one of the most famous wineries, Ksara, where offered us a taste. Dinner and overnight in Zahle.


DAY 05: CHOUF MOUNTAINS

Ride in the Chouf Mountains in the Baruch Nature Reserve, one of the most protected areas in Lebanon. This conservation area is home to 200 different bird species, 19 of which are globally threatened with extinction, the hunting is totally prohibited. The Flora offers 524 different plant species, and some are found only in this region, like the geranium or barberry. Ca. 4 hours walk on from 1600 to 1900m.

In the afternoon we go through the valley of the river in the small village of Damour to visit Deir Al-Qamar (Monastery of the Moon) and on to Beiteddine, where we visit the palace of Emir Sheikh Bashir. Both the outer part (Dar Al-Barraniyeh) and the central region (Dar Al-Wusta) show us is why the palace called the "Lebanese Al-Hamra". Dinner and overnight at the Chouf.


DAY 06: TYRE - SIDON

Today it is along the Mediterranean coast south to Tyre (Sour), which was mentioned in biblical times as a great city. The first flourished at Tyre, the Phoenicians, and the second in the Roman and Byzantine times. Visit the Hippodrome, the Arc de Triomphe and fishing port where you can get with anglers, but also with shipbuilders in conversation.

Next to Sidon, the Phoenician Saidon. Visit the Seekastells and Khan Al-Franji (French Caravanserai). In one of Khan's refurbished soap making is shown. Dinner and overnight in Beirut.


DAY 07: BYBLOS - BEIRUT

Drive to Byblos (Jbeil), one of the oldest and former Phoenician city. Visit the Citadel, visiting the St. John's Church and the old port. To have the afternoon free time on the sea to Erholeung and the events happened to the day's tablets revue. Dinner and overnight in Beirut.


DAY 08: DEPARTURE

Breakfast. Transfer to Beirut International Airport for departure.
